Lesson #5: Idolatry

Hey guys! Sorry this post is late. It's been a rough couple of weeks for me. I'm just strugglig with some stuff so prayers are always appreciated.  So here it is...

This is a hard lesson to learn and one you will most likely learn at some point in your life. There is a pedestal and God is on that pedestal, and nothing else belongs on that pedestal. If something besides God does wind up there it's not gonna be pretty. No person, thing, dream, or ANYTHING should get in the way of your relationship with God. Even if its not distracting from God, it can still be an idol. If it has more value than it should, its an idol. I have a problem with this, with people especially. I trust them then once I see they have kept my trust I can't bear the thought of being without them. God will remove these idols from your life if you ask Him to. Sometimes you don't have to ask. Sometimes, God being a righteously jealous God is going to do what He has to to draw you closer to Him. He's done it to me and as painful as the breaking process was, it's worth it. I've never felt closer to my Savior. He is my focus. I truly understand what this faith is all about. Its about living your life so that Jesus is seen through you. Being unashamed of the God who saved your soul, and sharing that hope with the lost and broken in the world. You will be unable to do this if there are things in your life that are more important than this. So reflect on your life and ask God to show you if there is anything that is more valuable than Him. You're going to have to humble yourself to do this, no one likes to admit they are wrong. Trust me though, it's worth it.
